MSC Board 2011-2012
Meet the Board of Marketing Management of 2011/2012:
Chairman: Florine van den Adel
I’m Florine van den Adel (22) and this year I’m the chairman of the board. I finished my Business Administration Bachelor here at the RSM and now started my Master in, of course, Marketing Management.
From the first year of my bachelor on I’ve always been active within STAR by joining the Agenda Committee and a function within the Commercial Team. The past year I went on exchange to Milan, Italy, which was a very nice and enjoyable experience! Right after coming back I joined the Interface Committee as Creative Director and even though I was still a bachelor student, I became chairman of the Marketing 360 Committee of the MSC Marketing Management. We organized the Marketing 360 event with Henkel and TomTom, which was a big success: As well the participating students and recruiters and of course ourselves had such a nice day!
I feel very happy that I’m given the opportunity to bring this nice and young Master Study Club a step further this year, together with my fellow board members. I love to be together and have a good time with friends and that’s also my main goal for the MSC: Bring people together, have fun and make our Master Marketing Management at the RSM an unforgettable year!
And thereby, of course organize nice recruitment events to get our members in touch with the most interesting companies in a nice and social way, organize a Study Trip to expand our horizons…
In fact, there are no limits to our plans, so it’s just a matter of time and (human) resources to make them all come true! If you have any questions or ideas, or might even be willing to enforce us by becoming an active member within a committee, we’d love to hear it! Please always feel free to approach me!
Hope to meet you soon!
External Relations (1): Mirna Steur
Hi, my name is Mirna Steur and this year part of the MSC Marketing Management board. This upcoming year me and Nazan are together responsible for all external relations of the MSC Marketing Management. Last year I started my premaster at RSM , after finishing my bachelor “International Business and Languages”. During my bachelor study I spent six months studying abroad in the United States of America at Johnson&Wales University. I loved this time abroad and am extremely excited that upcoming year I am surely going to have the same experience during my exchange at the University of Bath (United Kingdom).
Last year I was a coordinator in the Marketing Team of STAR and I joined the STAR BA Study Trip to Hong Kong. The BA Study Trip was an amazing experience and I’m sure our MSC Marketing Management Study Trip is definitely going to be as good or even better!
I am very enthusiastic about upcoming year and hope to meet and get to know all of you. Whether it is during an event, activity or even class!
External Relations (2): Nazan Kahraman
Hi, my name is Nazan Kahraman (22) and this year I am the Commissioner of External Relations of the Master Study Club Marketing Management. Together with Mirna, I will be responsible for all external relations of the MSC Marketing and also for the coordination of the Marketing 360 committee.
Last year I finished my bachelor’s degree at the RSM. After an interesting internship in India, where I worked at the marketing department of a growing company in Bangalore, the decision to do my Masters in Marketing Management was easy to make.
This year will not be my first experience within STAR, but unfortunately it will –probably- be my last one. Therefore I will try to do my very best to gather as much money as we need in order to make this year a wonderful year with a lot of valuable events and activities for our marketing students.
I am looking forward to meet you all during the Marketing 360, the Studytrip or at one of our other activities and social drinks! If you have any questions or ideas, please share it with us by sending an e-mail, via our facebook page or in person during the classes.
See you soon in class or during our activities!
Internal Relations/Treasurer: Heleen van Waes

Hey! My name is Heleen van Waes (22) and within the MSC Marketing Board I am responsible for the Internal Relations this year. Another part of my function is being Treasurer. It is from me that you will hear all about the interesting events and parties we are organising!
Lastyear I finished my Premaster BA here in Rotterdam. Before that I studied International Business and Management Studies of which I received a Double Degree Diploma. This means that I have studied two years in the Netherlands (Breda) and two years in France (Reims), this in English and French. I really gained a lot of experience with living abroad for such a long time and most important I learned to speak French and made such great friendships!
In France I realised that I wanted to specialise more and therefore I applied for the Premaster with already knowing that I wanted to study Marketing Management.
Being within STAR is not something I have done before, but I participated a lot during different projects last year. I even went with CDIT to Uganda this summer, what an experience was that!
Being within the MSC Marketing this year, it is our goal to give you many opportunities to meet other students within the Master and to get to know different companies in different ways!
I hope to meet you soon
Study Trip coordinator: Görkem Erdem

Hello fellow classmates,
I am Mehmet Görkem Erdem (24) and this year it is my responsibility to organize and coordinate the study trip.
Being born and raised in Istanbul, I have had my bachelor degree at Istanbul Technical University. After initially having started studying Molecular Biology and Genetics , I decided that it was not really my aspiration to be a genetician and work at laboratories. Instead I switched to studying Management Engineering from which I have recently obtained my bachelor degree. As I was sure of my passion and deep interest in marketing, I decided to pursue further marketing education and it eventually led me to RSM.
I am intending to organize a remarkable study trip this year that will hopefully be an unforgettable experience. Furthermore, I would like to meet you guys during the courses and our activities. I wish you all a great academic year full of fun and self-improvement.
Portfolio Manager: Mark de Vries Araujo

My name is Mark de Vries Araujo (22), was born in Sao Paulo and am half Brazilian, half Dutch. For the coming year I will be the Portfolio Manager for STAR MSC Marketing board of 2011-2012, being responsible for the creative part of managing and broadening the portfolio of activities provided by our organization. It’s my responsibility to think of nice events and novel ways to achieve a better integration of the student body of the MSC as well as giving opportunities for students to interact with company recruiters.
I was born and raised in Brazil but throughout the years I lived in South and North America, Asia and Europe. Now after 3 years in Holland I am already waterproof like any normal Dutch citizen; but as any Brazilian I am always available for some football, barbecue and partying… Last year I finished my Bachelors degree in International Business Administration also in this university, and now moved on to marketing. In addition to just studying I thought that getting involved in a board would be a cool experience, offering my fellow students interesting events, challenging activities, and of course a lot of fun...
This is my first year that I am active with STAR and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. Together we will make this an interesting and exciting year, so if you have any ideas or suggestions please let us know! I hope to meet you all soon…
