Master Study Club Strategic Management

About our Master Study Club

The Master Study Club (MSC) Strategic Management is the MSC for MScBA Strategic Management students at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. MSC Strategic Management formerly known as “Strategion” is part of the Study Assiociation RSM Erasmus University (STAR). With over 200 members last year, the MSC Strategic Management is one of the largest MSC’s at one of Europe’s best Business Schools.

Every academic year, the MSC tries to add as much value possible to the Strategic Management Master.

Besides this, the MSC frequently organizes social events at changing locations in Rotterdam. This gives students the opportunity to meet each other in a social setting. Moreover, the MSC also aims to bridge the gap between students and business by offering them the opportunity to meet future employers from different industries. Additionally, the MSC helps students prepare for life after their education. But these events are not only helpful for students. They offer great potential for companies, too. We offer companies a chance to meet highly talented and motivated students, just a few months away from graduating.

The MSC organizes different business-related events throughout the year: company visits, in-house days, and company dinners (students and employers meeting in an informal setting).

And of course we also offer large annual projects

  • The last two years, the successful Consultancy Castle has been organized as part of the MSC Strategic Management portfolio. A select group of the 24 best students are invited to join a two-day event at castle ‘de Hoge Vuursche’. Together with the best Strategy Consulting firms, they solve cases and get to know all about the consulting industry.  Participating companies for the 2010 edition were: McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Boston Consultancy Group, Booz & Company, OC&C Strategy Consultants, AT Kearney and Roland Berger.
  • In 2010, the first International Consultancy Project was organized. A small and close group of 24 students were selected on the basis of their CV and motivation to join the organizing committee to travel to a far away location (San Francisco and Los Angeles in 2010). Prior to departure, the students are prepared to crack a case about the 2010 topic ‘Strategic Alliances in Times of Changes’. Dutch companies and professors linked to the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University will educate the students around this topic and afterwards, the students will work in teams to propose the best solution to the case which will be presented to a jury abroad. Besides the hard work and visiting of local companies and universities at the foreign location, the students will also get the opportunity to explore the cities and expand their network.
