Community Services
As students of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University we can consider ourselves very much privileged for having a safe and social environment and a fortunate future ahead of us. Many people, in Rotterdam or elsewhere in the world, do not have such an opportunity. At STAR we believe we have the obligation to utilize our talent so that others can benefit from our experience. That’s why STAR has initiated two committees that will put all their effort and time in the development of communities. The Reach Out project is primarily focused on the development of the citizens of Rotterdam, where as the International Care (iCare) project tries to develop an as safe and social environment as possible in its own selected areas.
Reach Out
The Reach Out project (formerly known as Community Development National Team (CDNT)) was founded with the thought of providing both students and the Rotterdam community with valuable initiatives. The main project of the national team is the Buddy Project. The goal of the project is to involve students from RSM in the development of pupils at a less privileged primary school in Rotterdam. Furthermore, this team organizes various initiatives to support the community in financial or practical ways.
International Care (iCare)
The International Care project (iCare), formerle known as the Community Development International Team (CDIT) is focused on cooperation with a foreign poorly developed community by means of direct involvement by a group of RSM students who are willing to share their skills in a real-life assignment. The essence of iCare is to provide both students and the community in need with valuable initiatives. The wide range of projects in which students could participate can include physical activities, awareness campaigns, business-related initiatives, working with school children, etc. Last year, iCare visited Kenya to give business courses and to help entrepreneurs progress.
